José María Palazón López received his M. Sc. Degree in Organic Chemistry in 1981 at the University of La Laguna. In 1987 he obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry in the same University. This same year, he obtained a NATO Scientific Committee Grant and he joined the group of Prof. K. C. Nicolaou at the Chemistry Department in the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he carried out a two year post-doctoral stay, involved in the development of new synthetic methodology and the synthesis of diHETEs. In 1991 he was appointed as Associate Professor, and in 1995 as Senior Lecturer of Organic Chemistry at the University of La Laguna, where he remains at present day, being the Academic Affairs Vice Chancellor of this institution since 2007. José María Palazón López is the responsible of the Pharmaceuticals Drugs Design and Synthesis course (degree of Pharmacy), among other docent activities.
