Carlos L. Mayato Muñoz was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain) in 1976, and received his degree in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry) in 2002. In 2005, he gained the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA), and latter his PhD in Chemistry (2008) on “Spectroscopic Studies of Biomolecules in Solution. Conformational Implications in Glycoscience”, under the supervision of Professor Jesús T. Vázquez and Professor Rosa L. Dorta, at the University of La Laguna, Tenerife. As a consequence, the results of his thesis have been published in eight articles so far, and two more are in preparation. During these years, he has enjoyed a fellowship from the savings bank CajaCanarias, between January and October 2003, and another from the “Consejería de Educación, Cultura y Deportes” of the Canary Government (November 2003-October 2007).
